Salzburg is probably one of most beautiful cities in Austria. The city is famous for many things… Mozarts Birthplace, the „Getreidegasse“, the annual „Jedermann“ performance and besides many more things outside of Europe it´s well known because of the movie „Sound of Music“. The funny thing is, that the people in Austria haven´t really seen this flick.
From time to time I enjoy to go there too. On my last visit I brought my Canon AE-1 with a 28mm f/2.8 lens and an Ilford HP5 film with me for some (street) photography. My girlfriend and I started at the Mirabell garden, which is just an amazing place. If I would live in Salzburg, I would see myself all the time sitting there reading a book or just enjoying this beautiful place.
From there we went to the old town of the city. It is very crowded there, but this gives it also a very positive energy. Walking through the „Getreidegasse“ is a must. There are many shops and restaurants you can go to.
Then we went to the Domplatz, where the annual „Jedermann“ performance takes place.
From there we went up to the Hohensalzburg Castle. There is a fantastic view and the Castle itself is also nice to walk around.
Here is the Street Photography episode, we filmed during our visit:
